Star Trek: Discovery: Die Trying (2020)
Season 3, Episode 5
8/10
Enjoyable episode

Discovery goes to Starfleet HQ.

This is a strong episode that sets the scene within the federation and has some memorable moments.

The story is a mixture of mcguffin and world building with both elements done well. For me it has an exciting feel of exploration and unfolds in an entertaining way.

I particularly enjoyed the arrival at Starfleet, especially the crew reactions to various technological advancements. I loved the interrogation sequence, which contain some nice comedy. Saru having some good command moments is another positive.

The anti-Burnham mob will likely not like this one as she takes centre stage once more. I personally thought it worked well but it could equally be argued, much like the previous episode and many others before, that another crew member could have the focus. However, anything that infuriates angry keyboard warriors who take television shows far too seriously is fine in my book.

All actors were on good form such as Doug Jones, Sonequa Martin-Green and Rachael Ancheril.

It was a 7.5/10 for me but I round upwards.
