Good premise, poor storytelling
19 April 2021
The premise of this is good: a new continent that suddenly rises out of the ocean. Characters that can create whatever they can imagine. And... that's it.

The costuming of the main character is semi-militaristic goofy-looking. Zero's outfit is cute enough, if cliche. The individual stories are hit and miss, some of them decent, the majority kinda cow flops. The last three episodes are (spoiler excluded) yawners. They seriously could have done so much more with this series, but didn't.

Then we have the unanswered questions. Where did the continent come from? Where did all the weird life forms suddenly come from? A prominent character gets stabbed in the leg and severely sliced clear across the back... and walks around like nothing happened? And the "boss fight(s)" were a real snore.

The number of 10-star ratings on this are questionable. People involved with the production... or people with no discerning taste in anime? The low-star ratings may be too low, but they properly counteract the ludicrous praise posts. Best anime of the year? Not even close. This is a mediocre offering without a consistent story line, and too many disjointed, no-ending meaningless episodes. By the 12th episode I was way past ready for it to be done and over... but there was one more lame episode to go.

If you haven't seen it yet, you've been warned. It has an interesting premise and two or three decent mini-stories... and that's about all.
