A Delightful Adventure

Warning: Spoilers
Yes, I am aware that the cartoon-y, toy-like artstyle is not to everyone's tastes. However, as it allowed them to transfer the design of the pixelated original game to an HD experience, I don't mind in the least. Link's Awakening is has easily become one of, if not my favorite Zelda game. It's a charming, light-hearted adventure on the surface, but there's a mystery to story, and a twist which really makes it stand out. Link, the protagonist, is caught in a storm while at sea, and washes ashore a mysterious island filled with strange characters. Being told the only way to leave is awaken a creature known only as the Wind Fish, whose egg resides at the pinnacle of the island's tallest mountain, Link embarks on a quest to gather eight instruments and wake the strange being. With lovable characters like Marin, a fantastic score, and a design which provides challenge, but doesn't overstay it's welcome, Link's Awakening encapsulates everything that you could want in an escapist, E-rated fantasy game. Highly recommended!
