Thanks to tubi.tv, a lot of these old time B Westerns are now available, whereas in the past you would have to hunt them down just like a prospector coming to town to look for gold. That's actually the setting here, as Range Buster Max Terhune salts a 'gold mine' in the deserted town of Bottle Neck, in order to smoke out a bandit who robbed the Denver Mint. Just going by that description you have to know this was made up on the fly, as it takes all of a screen minute to turn Bottle Neck from an empty ghost town into a bustling mining camp replete with vintage jalopies and a saloon so packed you couldn't squeeze in a sardine.
Terhune teams up with his Range Buster buddies, 'Dusty' King and Ray Corrigan in a secret government mission to locate the missing gold. The backdrop is a familiar one with Dusty and Ray vying for the attention of a pretty gal, as they close in on a villain nicknamed The Jingler for his melodic spurs. The outlaw is portrayed by perennial bad guy I. Stanford Jolle in a role he replicates numerous times during his career.
Adding to the fun here is Max's wooden dummy pal Elmer as they entertain a passel of cowboys at the Bottle Neck casino, while Dusty avails himself with a couple of song tunes, one of them a serenade for Miss Nancy (Dorothy Short). If you catch this on tubi.tv, you'll have to put up with a pretty dark print that's marred at times with a blizzard of snowflake like defects. But if you're like me, you'll take it in stride to ride along with another Range Busters adventure.
