A long time has passed since the original movie and this series gives a quintessential update to a movie that was ahead its time. The cast was picked perfectly to match the needed delivery of their roles. Although the movie was ahead of its time, this series bring the story right into the midst of our culture representing black excellence in music, art and photography with a cast that gives a convincingly solid performance. Though the episodes were short, this series has the makings to be a good show. Hopefully there is more to come. The movie was ahead of its time but this series is right on time.
