Deadly Shores (2018 TV Movie)
The Hitchcock is strong with this one...Believe the rating

Warning: Spoilers
This movie might actually deserve to be at 0/10. I had a review going while I watched this, and scrapped it to say this movie is completely awful. The writer is clearly a Hitchcock fan with the elements of Rebecca (I think the housekeeper was actually wearing Judith Anderson's costume in this), Psycho, and Vertigo (with the shot of the stairs and the "fear" of heights). This movie was so bad, I don't even feel up to pointing out the flaws.

Lifetime occasionally uses gorgeous locations that ultimately have nothing to do with the plot. This lighthouse is GORGEOUS and is not another character in the story like you'd hope. There is nothing to like abut this movie. It even begins weird because the newlyweds have zero chemistry unlike Olivier and Fontaine and Richard's actor looks like he could be Anna's father. I know Richard from The Closer and Anna from GH, but it's still very awkward. The scene that is supposed to mimic the costume ball scene from Rebecca was so cringey to watch play out. As was the "I'm Mrs. Palmer now" scene. They both happen so abruptly and are obvious homages, but they don't work. The ending was SO CRINGE-inducing.

I actually think a Rebecca-lite story is in Lifetime's wheelhouse, but this is not it. The lighthouse would have been a great setting for a ghost story. I don't understand the ending at all nor do I understand how they could have thought anyone would like it. Since this movie borrows so much, there's a movie with Liz Taylor and Laurence Harvey called Night Watch (it's so good), and it would not surprise me if the writer borrowed from that as well.
