Another episode pass in this endless season that began so great and now I just want to finish. Bailey's alcohol problems keeps turning worse and Charlie is the only one who doesn't believe it. How far away is the Man that watched all his family like a Father in Aftershocks or The Ides of March. That Charlie is really gone and that's unbelievable. More worried of a woman that doesn't fit into the family as was showed in the last episode, instead of watching Julia and Claudia's actions and taking care of Bailey after the breakup with Sarah. Now he met Grace's parents and still is too blind to see what's going on with Bailey. I mean, he's 27 years old, he has been a responsible man in most of season 1, the first part of season 2 and the first part of season 3, but lately, he has been acting like a very young man, careless and immature. How it's possible that he didn't realize in the last time that Bailey has a alcohol problem? The second brother lost his parents, his girlfriend, has no real friends after Will left, cheated on his last loyal girlfriend and was recently dumped, Charlie knows all that, so what's going on with him? Today and in the last few episodes, he was written to be a dumb blind young man. And after being a total responsible man all the time he was with Kirsten, it's very hard to believe that he didn't learn anything. It's unbelievable. I can't buy it.
Another annoying point of this episode is how the writers ruined Julia's relationship with Sam out of nowhere. Sam was a great guy, a responsible and hard worker roofer, not a high society guy or a jerk, but suddenly he was written to be a racist, so Julia dumps him. This was a poor way to get rid of a good character, and really unfair.
The only good plotline of this episode is Bailey's alcoholism, including just Claudia's deep sadness and Julia and Sarah's constant worries. Bailey returned to himself for a very short time, apologizing to Julia, but later, after facing the alcohol temptation through the reflex of a window, he fell again. That was the good moment today. And after the party disaster was showed how desperate and broken Claudia was in basically one of the worst moments of her life. But beyond that, I didn't enjoy the story at all. The bad points are hard to unnotice. Not even Avery's story was that good, because his story seemed meaningless. To finish, why the writers had to show only Owen's three year old birthday? I would have liked to see his birthday in season 1 for example, season 4 or season 5-6. This is the only birthday party shown for Owen in the series and couldn't have been worse.
