The Orville (2017–2022)

Wonderful Sci-fi show

It is no news that this show is a star trek parody/homage.

The premise is good enough to any trek fans to watch it. It resembles TNG, but it also add some explicit pop culture humor, Humor that only implicit on Star Trek.

This is something that the show embraces and that gives its own personality. This is the true spirit successor of TNG and Star trek in general.

I feel the show (star trek) never wanted to be the next starwars, I dont feel Star Trek was meant to depict a story of war.

It has always been about encountering new life and civilizations. About interactions between people stuck in the same boat for long periods of time and their interactions. This is exactly what the show offers.

Granted, some episodes on the first season are a bit weak (i have only watched season 1 btw). Overall, they add to the show, as they offer some characters backrgound, and at the end, they pay off, as you have a more profound understanding of the characters moral codes and motivations.

So with this, i told you that there is good comedy and character development, but there is more, there are great actors in the show, they all play their parts perfectly and you feel part of the crew.

The make up is one of the best i have seen in tv, and while the sfx sometimes look cheap and sloppy, they are a big improvement from any trek iteration, but also fill the cheesy/comedy theme of the show

I got late into the Trek hype bandwagon, but modern times allow you to catch up quite fast, and i saw trek deteriorate in front of my eyes in a span of a few months.

While this show take many stablished elements of Trek, (the good ones) it also expands into the what trek should have gone.

Im loving the show and i really hope it can reach 6 seasons and a movie at least.
