There are some very funny comedians and there also are some of the lamest and unfunny people participating in this show.
First of all the audience is seriously dumb as a rock. They're the most daft and dumb people you will see all in one place together. You will find yourself disagreeing with them almost every single time. Some seriously good performances get a 'zero' out of nowhere and the dumb and stupid performances win that round. This stupidity continues throughout the show making you hate these fools voting in the first place.
As I said earlier, there are only a handful comedians who are good. Mallika Dua, Samay, Urooj, Tanmay only at times, Rahul Dua, Akash Gupta, sometimes Prashasti and Sumeira (who really surprised me) are truly funny. Then you have your good comics who are average in this show. For me these comics are Kenny, Rohan and Sumukhi. The rest who I've not mentioned are forgettable so much so that I won't even bother naming them.
That said, the stand out performer for me is Mallika Dua. She's a natural born funny person who makes this show worth watching.
The host of this show is getting a lot of hate, but honestly Prajakta does quite a decent job. She's not at all over the top like she is in her videos or in fan fest, etc. I feel Abish Matthew would have done a fantastic job as he is a great host. But it's refreshing to someone like Prajakta Koli host this show. As I said, her hosting may not be groundbreaking, but it also isnt as bad as people are making it seem.
Coming to the problematic parts of the show, body shaming is rampant in this show. Be it jokes about Tanmay becoming fat again and comparing him to three people or some other sample making fun of her former body positivity campaign. Common guys, seriously were in 2021. Grow up.
The whole scoring system and the daft audience, of whom I've already spoken about.
Unnecessary abuses. Some of these comics make use of expletives in their acts like it's no big deal at all. But they just made me cringe. They could have been done without and felt completely unnecessary. If these people think that use of these words makes them seem funnier, then they are wrong. It instead reduces them in the estimation of right thinking individuals watching this show. Those who resort to swearing or who body shame do so because they're actually pathetic and poor at this art. That's the only explanation for use of such controversial aspects while performing.
I would like to make a special mention of this contestant who is not just the most out of place/ undeserving/ unfunny person in this show but also one who mocks her own former body positive narrative that got her all this fame in the first place. Firstly I'd like to clarify that this is coming from a skinny person who never needed any of this body positivity in the first place. I just feel it's plain wrong and deceit of the audience that looked up to this person. Also, it's not worth mentioning this person's name even and so I won't. This was the most jaw dropping moment for me, not because it was classy but because it filled me with complete disgust. This girl happens to be someone who at one point was a fat person. She gains a lot of followers, all those seeking validation about their physique. She peddles this narrative for the time she is of that shape that it's okay to be the way you are, but just be comfortable in your own body. First you make everyone feel it's okay to be a certain way and then afterwards you lose all your fat, come on a show and make fun of your former self who told you it's okay to be fat. It just doesn't make sense. It's a horrible act, it's deception and insanity imo. This person has a few loose screws. Apart from that, this one is literally the unfunniest person and not one joke of theirs was funny. That's all I can say about her.
Having said this, the first four episodes are your average to decent ones, but then the semi finale and finale are outstanding. It's as if you're sailing in a slow af fairy for a couple of hours and then suddenly it turns into a speedboat. So all in all it's a show that's worth watching and you will pass your time nicely watching it.
