A very low rent Italian Tarzan rip-off, variously known as APE MAN OF THE JUNGLE and TARZAK AGAINST THE LEOPARD MEN. While there are indeed 'leopard men' villains in this one, the hero's name actually turns out to be Zartok so where they got Tarzak from I have no idea! The story is bottom of the barrel stuff, with a group of white explorers (including the token blonde damsel-in-distress) at the mercy of some scheming local natives. Political intrigue pads out the plot, while our hero - accompanied by a Man Friday type assistant - jumps in to save the day by fighting crocodiles and wrestling with his enemies. Ralph Hudson is an unprepossessing strongman actor of the era, and he only appeared in this and one other peplum movie. You can see why - with his overly beefy build and ginger hair he isn't really cut out for stardom.
