A decent mystery

Warning: Spoilers
I would not rate this among my very favorite episodes, but it was still good.

Like a lot of mysteries--not just Aurora Teagarden--the victim is often pretty easy to guess. It is the person who is the most annoying, despicable, or pompous--all three words describing our murder victim in this episode!

What I found a little more interesting, plot-wise, was that despite several red herrings, the actual murderer is zeroed in on for much of the show. It is only really Aurora who is having a hard time accepting this person might be a murderer.

So when the murderer is exposed--in another well done action scene where Nick and Aurora show their protective instincts--I was not especially surprised. I'm guessing that the writers were hoping that viewers would expect Aurora's instincts would prove true, and are therefore surprised when Aurora proves to be fallible!

There were also some nicely staged emotional moments, especially with Aida (Marilu Henner) this episode.

Some were raw, like Aida witnessing the victim's mother, Shirley Landon (Iris Quinn) shockingly cold rejection the victim's wife shortly after learning of the death.

And some were tender, like Nick (Niall Matter) asking Aida for her blessing to marry Aurora.
