How did I keep going after this junk?

Warning: Spoilers
The overall premise as it is established here in the first episode is silly and historically impossible. The war has been over for a year, yet there are no young German men around, so the new police department for the entire city of Berlin is a crew of about two dozen centrally located women and oddly silent older men, who have no budget, no training or experience, no vehicles, and they are not allowed to carry firearms. Where are all the German servicemen who returned from the war by 1946? They weren't ALL war criminals on the run or still in POW camps. The goof who wrote this idiotic tale did absolutely no historical research. NONE!

So for some extremely odd reason the U. S. Government sends a lone American civilian cop to the American controlled sector of Berlin to set up a new police agency that is "up to the standards of the NYPD", he proudly announces in his moronic accent. What a laugh! It never happened, nor would it ever.

Before that, he has just gotten outwitted and beaten up by two very young street urchins, and shortly thereafter he confronts two mad dog, heavily armed and inexplicably rampaging Soviet soldiers with only his Colt pistol, breaking cover to do so. It's so idiotic. If they were hoping to establish this clown as a brave tough guy, they failed miserably. The whole show fails miserably, especially with this first episode.

Another moronic subplot includes a Me-Too-style revenge conspiracy that is gratuitous and apparently is supposed to make women feel empowered, I guess. By rewriting history? How about we focus on the present and the future. Trying to change facts from the past only makes one look like a fool.

It's so hard to decide what is the worst aspect of this completely pathetic mess? I have to say it's either the amateurish writing or everything about Taylor Kitsch, from his awful acting, to his laughably anachronistic appearance (his stubbly beard is a late-20th Century abomination), to his grossly incompetent and annoying fake "New Yawk" accent. The character is a bumbling boob who cusses like a 21st Century, Generation Z hipster and shows no signs of being a competent cop.

The city of Berlin looks to be a complete, 100% ruin from the outside, with no complete buildings left standing. But all the interiors shots are of fully furnished and complete apartments and offices. The supporting cast is OK, except some of the uniformed characters are appear much too old for their role, especially the cadaverous old Soviet army commander.

Probably the absolute dumbest part of the first episode is the ending, where we find out what Kitsch's character's older brother, an AWOL American soldier, has been up to, and the reaction of the lead character with the stupid and terrible fake accent. Total nonsense. Again, it's the ludicrous writing. SO bad!
