What if HAL wasn't the jerk he turned out to be, and cared deeply about cracking up Dr. David Bowman in 2001: A Space Odyssey? That's sort of the premise of this creative indie sci-fi comedy from writer/director Aaron McJames, and honestly, I'll take any fresh take on this character. That's one of the reasons I liked this movie so much. We've seen this sort of AI personality before in sci fi movies, but not like this. For at least that reason, you should give this a watch. It may seem a little rough, (it is an indie after all) but I enjoyed the story and humor enough to move past that pretty quickly.
