This episode was much better than last week. However, I was streaming the episode and I lost the connection a couple of times so will need to re-watch.
Very unhappy about the Strange/Joan romance (and I have always liked Strange) it just seems shoe horned in and so disappointing that after what six series (almost) we never get anything with Morse/Joan and two episodes start them off as the great romance.
Also, if, (and that is if) they do marry that actually lines up worse with the fact that Thursday is NEVER mentioned in the 33 Inspector Morse episodes if Thursday and Win are his in-laws and Joan as well - regardless she is clearly very protective and fond of Morse so how does that work ?
I could understand that he never mentioned Thursday, Frazil, Bright, Joan 20 years later if no-one had any links for years but if Joan is Strange's wife ? And Strange in Inspector Morse is heavily involved with the Masons and I cannot see Joan going along with that.
Loved the scenes with Thursday and the crims.......reminded me of the Home episode (one of my favourites)
Perhaps Shaun should not direct the series lead in - Oracle was pretty bad and last weeks, however, full credit to him when he directed it was at the height of the restrictions so would have been very tough.
I am actually looking forward to next week's episode now.
