Many indies tend toward horror anthologies that harken back to the old "Tales from the Dark Side" and "Night Gallery" TV shows, and sadly, most don't measure up. "The Haunted Hotel", however does. It's a lot of fun, and there is much to enjoy in the film's several short stories. The editing and cinemagraphy have a definite aesthetic, as does the acting, and in spite of each episode having a different director, writer and crew, there is a genuine cohesiveness in the overall storytelling. While The Haunted Hotel lacks the extreme violence, gore and jump scares of modern horror films (and sometimes expected fto on audiences), the entire affair enjoys a slow burn as it moves from episode to episode, with the hotel itself being the unifier of the overall narrative.
