An early short film (6 minutes) from Tim Burton, when he was still working for the Disney-studios.
His superiors recognized that (a) he had talent and (b) his personal style was not compatible with Disney's. They gave him a budget to make a personal short to kickstart a career than presumably would be outside the Disney studio.
This intention worked out quite well. "Vincent" is about a little boy (Vincent Malloy) that (to his mother's sorrow) prefers daydreaming above playing outside. In short one strongly suspects an autobiographical element.
Vincent daydreams about the story's of Edgar Allan Poe and the movies of Vincent Price. "Vincent" is on rhyme and reminds of the poem "The raven" of Poe. It must have been a great pleasure to Burton that he found Vincent Price willing to give his voice to this animated short.
