5/10
Not that bad as a sequel but still poor
4 December 2021
I kinda liked the first SPY KIDS. It wasn't great but it had some funny moments, some cool stunts and CGI and likeable characters. After so many years I wanted to try the sequels and they weren't as awful as the fourth (the only one that has the distinction of being in the Bottom 100) but still not that impressive.

In this sequel the Cortez kids are now OSS agents and go to a ceremony with their parents (Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino). Once there they are shocked that they are not named the top spy kids, with their place taken by the President (Christopher McDonald)'s kids. Now the Cortez kids have to go on a island where there is a substance that the Giggles will use in the hope of blocking all of Earth's technology and they will be partly helped by Romero (Steve Buscemi), a scientist that made experiment on miniaturising animals for having a tiny zoo in his lab. Will the Cortez succedd? See the movie.

While it wasn't that engaging as the predecessor it had still a few funny moments here and there and this is the reason for which it manages to earn a 5. I really liked the part with the miniaturized animals, they were so cute to look at. So, while not an excellent sequel, still a movie I would recommend mostly to folks with low expectations.
