The stage curtains open ...

This episode was an improvement over the last, but just slightly. I'm still not sure where they are trying to take us with the whole Tiffany/Nica angle since it doesn't fit the rest of the story. It fits with the past, but not the present. I guess I will just have to wait and see. This episode, "Cape Queer", is an obvious homage to the Scorsese directed version of "Cape Fear", and that was a nice draw for this chapter in the overall story.

We rejoin Tiffany and Nica and it becomes more clear what is going on with the knowledge that Chucky has managed to break up his soul and place the pieces into various Good Guy Dolls as well as a piece inside of Nica. However, a flash of red will bring Nica out of his control and back to her normal self. Tiffany is wise to this and confronts her with it. Meanwhile, Jake and his friends find out that it was Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) who called him back in Episode 1, and that he has been searching out the different Chucky dolls along with Kyle (Christine Elise) and destroying them. The episode ends with another death, an important one that shell shocks one of the three friends.

I had a hard time staying invested into this episode too, as things are just not gel'ing like they were before the last episode. It was fun seeing some familiar faces from movies past (even though Jennifer Tilly and Christine Elise are both starting to look pretty rough these days), reprising the characters that we have grown to love. I just, personally, am not feeling it with Tiffany and Nica and wish they had not brought them back ... at least not yet. The one thing that I can say that I did like about this episode was that they are killing off all the errant Chucky's. I hated that "Cult of Chucky" ended with 10 different Chucky's running around, so I am glad to see them cleaning that up.

I can't recommend this one, and I've given it 5 stars out of 10. It just feels like they are trying to cram too much into the first season with older characters etc. Chucky - Season 2 has already been greenlit. They should've saved some of this for then. I have two episodes left to go. I REALLY hope they focus us back in to a great finish.
