Encounter (III) (2021)
9/10
May you always see your Dad as your hero
12 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Okay so I may have been spoiled to the twist before watching this which may colour this review slightly but wow what a heartbreaking, emotional movie.

I can see the point where our eyes may have been opened along with Jay's. When Jay switched into the one that had to look after his Dad rather than the other way around. He had no roadmap, no one else to rely on, just the responsibility of a young innocent brother and a father war torn and wounded.

The performances were amazing.

A story of a boy that's on the cusp of growing up who idolises his father, a war hero. Dismissive of his new stepdad and still naive, he is forced to grow up pretty quickly when his father comes to take them on a mission. Fleeing from parasitic aliens, taking care of his young brother and learning to drive as the rites of passage into manhood, he learns that sometimes your heroes aren't the heroes you think, but sometimes they're the heroes you need.

Heartwarming end when I feared the worst case scenario.
