Review of Prelude

Prelude (2019)
10/10
A masterpiece of acting from Louis Hofmann
14 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The movie seems to not make sense until the last scene, when everything comes together.

It's a story of a secretly mentally ill young artist on his way to suicide. Not many clues are given, only a generally fuzzy point of view. Some characters may not be even be real. The illness is tough to spot; someone suffering from or having someone close with depression might recognize some signs.

The last scene, that of the suicide, is one of the most shocking I have ever seen. It lasts very little but the acting of Louis is genius in its simplicity. The last expression on his face is unforgettable.
