I really enjoyed this film for most of the first hour, but there was a completely gratuitous rape scene (involving a maid) that almost certainly never happened in real life. It's bad enough that modern filmmakers have been adding gratuitous sex scenes into films/series for many years. Apparently that got boring so they're going straight for violent rape no matter how out of place it seems. Downton Abbey infamously did the same thing. Sure, rape has happened in every society during every era, but it shouldn't be part of what a checklist when making a film, especially a film based on real people.
