See for Me (2021)
7/10
A decent film that just needed to make the main character a little more likable

Warning: Spoilers
When your lead character is a blind girl it is going to be pretty hard to make her unlikable. Even with all the pride she shows and how rude she can be to her friends and family, we are willing to forgive it because we understand things are tough for her. But then when you go the step further and make her a thief it begins to get a little hard. I understand it plays into the story later on, but the number one rule in horror screenwriting is to make us like about the character/s, so we care about their fate. This was an otherwise good film that slipped up in that sense.

The second too acts of this film are quite well done. The villains (while a little dumb and illogical) are also menacing and even a little charismatic. The girl on the app 'Kelly' is a good addition to the film too. If anything she's the character that I would've been worried for if she were in danger. The suspense scenes are not perfect, but they do enough to keep us interested and needing to know what's going to happen next.

I didn't always feel that the stakes were high enough - there's an odd patch in the middle of the film where I wasn't sure which direction they were going to go in, but the ending made up for that and ensured that there was something to be feared. I had a good time with 'See for Me' and would recommend it. It's not perfect but it does enough to stay afloat and then some. 7/10.
