Mando Season 2.5
27 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Great to see Mando back! I clapped in excitement. It was very interesting seeing how he is doing nowadays. No Grogu, is more brutal in combat due to the loss of Grogu, and still collects the bounty. I have to say that duel, where Mando uses his dark saber against the meat-packing plant people, was badass. MAN'S SLICED THEM IN HALF! I like how the remaining men got out of Mando's way. They ain't dumb lol. The worldbuilding of the Halo-like structural world was cool. AND WE GET TO SEE THE PREQUEL-LIKE ELEVATORS. We get to see the comeback of The Armorer and Paz Vizsla. I seriously love them.

We get a recap explanation of S2 where how Mando got the Darksaber from Moff Gideon and the reason why he's wielding it, also another explanation of what happened to Moff. Of course, he's still alive and has been sent to the New Republic for interrogation. And will face justice for his crimes soon. We get a flashback on how Mandalore was destroyed in the Great Purge where TIE bombers annihilate the hell out of the surface. "Oh, it's beautiful..." I noticed that it happened during the night, and it's pretty sad if you think deeply that the Mandalorians died during their sleep. Damn you! I love how the landscape looks in the devastation with menacing-looking Imperial droids on the surface. Had me Terminator vibes there.

I do like the direction where they're setting up for S3, and give us surprises where Mando struggles to wield the Darksaber since it's got a wacky relationship with him. Mando's Darksaber training with the Armorer was nice to watch. The way that she used her weapon bonking on Mando's head, LOL. Paz interrupts the training challenging Mando to a duel for the saber since Paz has the same bloodline as Tarre Vizsla, but they have to remove their jetpacks. They do so. Pretty nice to see the mini-force field-shield back. Awesome duel it was. You had Paz kicking Mando's ass.

After the duel, the Armorer asks Paz and Din if they ever removed their helmets once before. I was like: "Oh damn, is Mando gonna tell the truth or lie?" Mando does tell the truth. It broke my heart when Armorer states that he isn't a Mandalorian anymore, BUT Mando begs for forgiveness. There is an answer for that which according to Creed, one may only be redeemed in the living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore. The problem is the mines have all been destroyed. There has to be water down there, but it'll be tough.

Mando gets on board commercial transport to Tatooine checking up on the status of his Razor Crest. Mando is pretty much disappointed seeing his replacement, a pre-Empire starfighter that was used by the Queen of Naboo. Also great to see Peli again. It never gets old with her personality lol. Speaking of which, we do get an appearance of a BD droid which was a nice call. Mando copes that he has nothing left of transport deciding to help her, as her droids & Jawas help repair it. Smh, how dare R-5 use language around Mando.

That's no way to get proper customer service. Mando takes it for a test flight. "Now this is pod-racing!" First impressions - I am blown away by how fast that ship is, holy Jesus! I bloody love the design. Like they always say, you can't beat the classic. Also, I was surprised to see the podrace landscape again for 23 years. Mando has a lot of fun with it resulting in getting in trouble with the New Republic again. Mando plays it cool until the two ask for information about his past activities in which he uses his sublight thrusters. Mando returns only to find out that Fennec needs help alongside Boba. Mando accepts this, but he wants to see if his "little friend" is safe.

Overall, this is pretty much your usual Mando story. I am a bit disappointed with no screentime of my man himself Boba and felt out of place in the middle of a spin-off, but I will cope with it. I do agree with Mando's armor looks better than Boba's.

I love the shininess, don't give me that plain color. Great worldbuilding, plentiful of action, better dialogue, wonderful shots (( just noticed Tatooine looked way better with Mando. )), more screentime of the side characters we all know and love, the soundtrack slaps, and a bunch of lovely callbacks. I truly missed Mando, and it just warms my heart to see him again.

I'm gonna have a hard time deciding if Episode 2 is the best, but this will be a 10/10.
