I'm trying to figure out what the message is supposed to be here. Is this supposed to be a metaphor for how society feels about and treats addicts? Sure, we generally treat addicts more like criminals than people who are battling a disease, but we don't torture them to death. Yes, it might be accurate that we throw them away in a sense, but this is a little extreme and loses its effectiveness because of the torture scenes which seemed unnecessary. It would have been more effective if they were just dumped into an incinerator. That would have been a much more accurate metaphor. The movie had its moments, but it also seemed to use a lot of the same concepts from other horror films, and the ending didn't work. I can't imagine it even being a good idea on paper, and it was executed poorly mainly because of the little girl's weak acting.
