Despite not being American, I quite like American football and I'll quite happily watch a sports movie. American Underdog isnt really much of a sports movie though, its a biography of a man that takes us through his difficult of years in his personal life. It is the football that is the underdog in this film, it is practically non-existent until the last 20 minutes.
I'm sorry to say but the life of Kurt Warner isnt that much different to most other peoples either. Romantic, but off/on relationships, financial hardships and a struggle to be recognised in his field. Toward the end Mr. Warner begins to catch some luck and his life improves. So the same story could be for most anyone I know, without the culmination of becoming a sports star. For me there was nothing that made this film stand out. Just a fairly average, if not slightly boring way, to spend a couple of hours.
