Review of Badhaai Do

Badhaai Do (2022)
7/10
Badhaai Do

Warning: Spoilers
It's good acting by the actors. The length of the movie was a bit let down and the movie was moving at a sluggish pace. But story was good and songs were good. The title of the movie could have been different , there was no need to ride on the success of a different story, if this movie is not a sequel to Badhaai Ho. The movie tried to highlight two issues at hand here - How the LGBTQ community is unable to express their partners to their family members and relatives which is a major issue in our society. The social fabric is deep rooted with taboos and lack of acceptance of any change.

Secondly, the issue of adoption by LGBT community, what if they want to adopt kids?? Our current Indian laws don't permit adoption by LGBT community. A different topic to delve on and good acting by the actors. The highlights of the movie was the climax - How Rajkumar Rao asks his relatives " Is this a disease that needs to be treated "? And the baraat of a gay marriage. Some scenes in the movie were dealt with very subtly and deftly.
