The idea of rebooting a classic 1990s comedy into a straight-up drama was a great idea. The overall cast is fantastic, talented, attractive and - dare I say it - fresh! Each character is fully drawn, exposing multiple layers. I anxiously awaited each episode to see where the story would take me next and what we'd learn new about which character. Although I loved the original series, this series actually makes more sense. Moving from the hoods of West Philly to Bel Air had to be traumatic and sometimes lonely trying to fit in. Certainly, not the joke fest we'd come to believe it was in the original. Instead, this series exposes the depths of Will's character's struggle to maintain his essence while simultaneously undergoing cultural changes to become the Will Smith we know today.
