You could say Rios trying to get the badge back will mirror Marty McFly trying to retrieve the sports almanack in BTTF II.
Rios also does a Chekov in Star Trek IV, ending up in hospital and being chased by the authorities.
Now if they only had a doctor with a Scottish accent who picked up a voice activated device and said Computer......
