Another superb episode.

Warning: Spoilers
In the wake of the shooting of Wild Bill, the community of Deadwood decides to put together something resembling a trial, complete with a magistrate (Marshall Bell) and opposing attorneys (Brent Briscoe and Dirk Blocker). Irate over the way things turn out, Seth determines to obtain some justice. With a distraught Calamity Jane off on a bender in the nearby woods, the care of young Sofia (Bree Seanna Wall) is entrusted to Alma; Al then enlists Trixie (Paula Malcomson) to give Alma some assistance. Taking an interest in Almas' welfare, Trixie finds out how she can help Alma wean herself off the laudanum addiction. While she is mourning Bill and getting good and loaded, Jane encounters the sickly Andy Crane (Zach Grenier), who was dragged into the woods and left to die.

With other top-notch character actors like Glenn Morshower and Nicolas Surovy among the guest stars, 'The Trial of Jack McCall' sizes up as another 55 minutes worth of great entertainment. It gives William Sanderson his best so-far showcase on the series as E. B. laments his lot in life while cleaning up blood stains in a hotel room. Garret Dillahunt is once again compelling to watch as the slovenly lowlife Jack McCall, whom Al advises to get the Hell out of town before somebody decides to put a bullet in *him*. In one disturbing moment, the Reverend (Ray McKinnon) experiences seizures while alone in a tent; unfortunately, nobody takes any notice of him.

Highlighted by a very sobering and respectful funeral service as the legendary figure of Wild Bill is laid to rest, this episode also shows how much regard many of the locals had for him. There is an early sequence as they all pay their respects before Bills' dead body.

Nine out of 10.
