As a long time student of film (please see my IMDb lists, including "SCRIPTWRITING SO BRILLIANT IT CAN MAKE YOUR BRAIN HURT") I am fascinated by the notion that writers in two contemporaneous projects with similar themes -- PARALLELs here, and the current hit film THE ADAM PROJECT -- can choose such radically different forks. In THE ADAM PROJECT, two versions of his son Adam (of entirely different ages) show up while his father is teaching a university class ... and he recognizes both at once. No biggie. Happens every day. Here in PARALLELS e01, a terrified young boy who has somehow just turned into a man confronts his mother, begging her to please recognize him --- and she calls the cops. Reminding everyone that, at the end of the day, it is the writers that ultimately control the story. Competently done.
