Season 1, Episode 22
8/10
The ending twist was so good...

Warning: Spoilers
Season one sets the bar really high for the show. Too high maybe. As it soon fizzled out, with ill-handled storylines, and bad characterizations. As far as this season finale is concerned, it was the perfect way to end this first chapter. And start the Katherine/The Originals arc, next. The tomb vampires meet their demise, the werewolves are introduced (even though we don't know about it yet) human Caroline dies, Damon shows his true colors, and Bonnie reveals herself as powerful witch. Only dull Elena and her brother, are given the shortest end of the stick, so to speak. After the Isobel episode, this first season finale proved how The Vampire Diaries, used to be a highlight of the CW lineup. It gave you all the most important answers, to everything you needed to know about the show at that points. And hinted at even more interesting stories next Fall.
