It's another undeniable highlight of the season. Season 2 is ok, and pretty addictive. But it don't have the first season charm and simplicity. And some of the plots and characters are all over the place. Katherine is defeated for now, after great interactions between her, the brothers and some secondary characters. But it seems to be a modus operandi with all the big bad of the show. They all use and abuse people, when in reality they are scared of something bigger than them. The whole episode is filled with great writing and edge of your seat moments. And that masquerade ball setting, adds to the glamour and mystery. Like the character it is focused on. At least the one the heroes decided to take down. Tyler completes his werewolf curse, and it's a pity this storyline in particular, was handled so poorly in the next couple of seasons. And dragged on for too long as well. At that point, Elena is just there to be put in danger and saved, so as much as I enjoyed the last second twist. I'm not liking the way she is written this season.
