3/10
nonsensical plot and slow

Warning: Spoilers
The trailer is completely deceptive as this movie is not anything like it. It is slow paced, a lot of pointless talking, and overall a let down. The CGI is great, but there are so few of it as well as so few action. Most of the film is really just talking and talking and just pointless talking.

However, that was not the worst of it. The plot made no sense as they went to rescue 1 guy, but lost another guy in the process. That is just terrible writing and made no sense. When you write a story like this, it is suppose to either end in tragedy or ultimate triumph, this is trading the life one 1 guy for another. It served no purpose in a story writing.

Let's not even talk about the science of it all, completely ludicrous. I get this film has a political and environmental agenda. However, come on... setting an oil spill about the twice the size of UK on fire!?!? HOW is that remotely a smart idea? The environmental fallout would be lesser than leaving the oil slick alone? UH NO. Burning it would be worse and the size of the oil slick would not burn for 5 mins, it would burn for years and the smoke would likely cover the whole globe. It would be an extinction event.

Why would they burn the oil? They claim b/c it would eventually make landfall. Well, how is burning it suppose to resolve that? The wells are still open... the oil will keep flowing out. Remember when Iraq set the oil wells in Kuwait? They burned for months.

I'm sorry but this science is just so dumb that there is no way it is remotely believable.
