Weakest of the Original Trilogy, But Still Good
12 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The professor and Luke board a train in hopes of uncovering the mystery of the Elysian Box.

This game is a technical improvement over the first - however, the overall story and mystery itself feel disconnected and jumbled. The characters are still fun, but it feels like there is less connecting them together. Flora is practically written off part way through; Don Paolo appearance makes no sense; and the whole train element is abandoned halfway through. The 'villain' on the box art does not make an official appearance until the third act.

The puzzles, artwork, and characters are still a delight - but it feels like they have even less of a reason to be together than they did before. Nevertheless, I still recommended this game to puzzle fans. Ironically, this was my first Professor Layton game growing up, and it was the one that got me hooked.
