A breath of fresh air, beautifully illustrating generational misunderstanding and strife in a thoughtful and humorous way. Jean Smart is absolutely fabulous as the jaded, acerbic comedian Deborah, who fears her relevance is fading. Hannah Einbinder is Ava, a Gen Z/Millennial who has been cancelled due to an offensive tweet.
The two are thrust together to help Deborah reboot herself and Ava rehabilitate herself by writing jokes together. The chemistry between the women is palpable, despite them being in constant conflict, they develop a growing mutual admiration and affection though neither will admit it.
The stories that emerge are clever, honest and interesting with some wonderful comedy and a deep exploration of relationships.
