Not horrible but not all that enjoyable

Warning: Spoilers
Too much of this just doesn't work. Everything from the soundtrack to the story, it just wasn't all that well put together. The casting was way off as well. Some of it was really goofy, I mean stick out like a sore thumb odd-ball humor that just didn't land well with the rest of it. If you're going to go goofball comedy go full off-the-wall strange, why the sentimental story about a guy who can't have kids, it wasn't necessary and didn't play well into the plot. The character conflict between the main players was annoying and also didn't help the story along, it would have made more sense if they all were life-long friends and one of their own buddies was killed so they were all on the same page. Or why not have them all work at the same store, how hard would that have been?

And some of the cast was just wasted, like R. Lee Ermey and Will Forte could have been better in lead roles than Jonah Hill or Vince Vaughn. I mean honestly R Lee Ermey could have been the guy with the crazy arsenal that helps save the day. And Vince Vaughn might as well have been in scenes by himself as it was like he was sucking the life out of every scene he was in. And the biggest crime was wasting a talent like Richard Ayoade, although being a key character in this story it felt like he could have been written out of the entire film. It's just unbelievable stuff like this got the green light. I had avoided this film many times as I don't really like Ben Stiller and seeing Vince Vaughn is a warning sign and after watching it I should have just kept passing on this one, the only reason I decided to watch it was for Richard Ayoade and that was a disappointing appearance for him.
