The movie's plot doesn't feel contrived. While it may be simple and predictable for those of us who've watched hundreds of movies, those that have not (aka children) love the movie. The jump scares work, the threats seem real, and the acting is top notch! Yes, the actors did amazing given what little they had to work with in a movie about dinosaurs in real life.
