Off the coast of Panama , there is an island with a female penal colony , run by a sadistic superintendent (Mercedes McCambridge) and a cruel governor (Herbert Lom) . When three prisoners (Luciana Paluzzi, Elisa Montés, Maria Rohm) arrive in the penal colony , one of them mysteriously dies , leading to a mutiny and a getaway , resulting in an extensive investigation of the horrific deeds . Then a new warden named Leonie Caroll (Maria Schell) is assigned to the hard prison, but things go wrong . Somewhere in the jungles of South America some prisoners breakout and being relentlessly pursued by the nasty wardens.
