Warning: Spoilers
This episode may be the most frightening of them all! Why ? Because it hits too close to home. We don't want to think this could happen but it is happening in more subtle and not so subtle ways.

How often do we innocently praise someone for their appearance? Why is that our focus?

Marilyn is 19 and doesn't want the transformation. Her mother and her best friend Val don't understand. They don't want to sit with an unpleasant thought. They don't want to think about anything too much. Marilyn is a reader and a thinker. She has emotions good and bad . She gets angry and sad. No one else wants to feel that much it frustrates and angers and makes her feel completely alone. This is another thing I see even when it isn't this stark many people suppress the darker and sadder feelings because others can't handle it.

The transformation is supposed to be voluntary but it's not. Marilyn attempts to escape but it's no use . The transformation takes place. It's unclear just what methods are used but they are considered more effective ( that's hardly comforting) than when Marilyn's father had it then committed suicide . Something along the lines of brainwashing or a lobotomy takes place. The transformation you see isn't just physical. Marilyn as a person, an individual is completely gone. She happily appears and says the best thing of all is she looks just like her friend Val. Everyone looks on smiling.
