Better than the last, however this episode leaves a lot to be desired.

I would be lying if I said that this show did not initially surprise me with its unique style and fun tone. I fell in love with the first two episodes of this show and was gearing up for it to probably be one of, if not my favorite MCU show to date. However, unfortunately, I am back-peddling on that a little bit. The last 2 episodes did not impress me nearly as much as the first, they seemed to lack what made this show great, to begin with. Now episode 3 did have some great parts as well, it still felt too different from the first to garner the same feelings as this show's beginnings. Now the 4th episode was the lowest for me, strange edits and weird removal of tone from the rest of the show left me disappointed.

Regardless of that, I need to talk about episode 5, as the penultimate episode of the show it does offer more of a backstory to Kamala's great grandmother Aisha, which is much appreciated, and I like how much time they spent in the past with her and her family. This kind of interesting mixup was exactly what hooked me with the show, to begin with, so I appreciated this quite a bit. My biggest issue with this episode is that felt like it didn't really set anything up for a satisfying ending.

The biggest gripe I have with this show is how they are deciding to handle Kamala's power set. It's not that I don't like the interesting change to her powers, it's that the core of what made her comic character so great is missing because of it. This surprises me quite a bit as the first two episodes made it seem like this was the exact issue that this show would be covering, however that has suddenly shifted to whatever the hell is happing with the "clandestines" and their story. It's frustrating that what made her seem so relatable in the beginning is being thrown out the window, which brings me to my final point.

Unless this final episode is an hour and a half long, I cant see this show having anywhere near enough time to end things in a way that will make me truly care about Kamala and her family/friends. It seems strange just how short this episode was considering how much more of this story I thought was left and that's a bit of a letdown for me. I still enjoyed this episode and greatly aprricate what these filmmakers are trying to do with this story, however, some of the decisions seem quite strange.

All in all, I am still waiting to see how this series will turn out as we still have one episode to go. After all, I hope that I am completely wrong and it blows my expectations out of the water, but time will tell if that turns out to be true.
