Young Guns II (1990)
7/10
A worthy sequel...
10 July 2022
The 1990 sequel "Young Guns II" was and still is actually as impressive as the 1988 predecessor movie "Young Guns".

And while writer John Fusco returned to write the movie, "Young Guns II" saw a new director at the helm. But I have to say that director Geoff Murphy did manage to carry on the mantle and deliver a movie that was every bit as enjoyable and entertaining as the predecessor.

The storyline in "Young Guns II", as written by John Fusco, was rather enjoyable. It was a nice continuation of the first movie, but with many new layers and things added to the storyline. And I have to say that the 1988 movie and the 1990 movie felt connected as if they were shot back-to-back. Thumbs up to writer John Fusco for that accomplishment.

Akin to the 1988 movie, then "Young Guns II" also had an impressive cast ensemble. Of course, some from the first movie didn't return to the sequel, as their characters were killed off in the first movie. But it was nice to see Emilio Estevez, Lou Diamond Phillips and Kiefer Sutherland return to reprise their characters. "Young Guns II" added to the cast ensemble with great performers like Christian Slater, William Petersen, Robert Knepper, Viggo Mortensen, Scott Wilson, Alan Ruck, Leon Rippy and even the iconic actor James Coburn. So yeah, you are once again in for quite the treat.

If you enjoyed the 1988 movie "Young Guns", then you most certainly will also enjoy the 1990 sequel "Young Guns II".

My rating of "Young Guns II" lands on a seven out of ten stars.
