The great Broadway & nationwide stage hit!

A joyous and cheerful New Musical with full of vitality , entertainment , fun , diverting messes and breathtaking musical dances . Dealing with two likable sisters seeking excitement , sisters Ruth and Eileen Sherwood move from Ohio to New York in the hopes of building their careers while living in a basement apartment in Greenwich Village where a parade of odd roles are constantly breezing in and out , being a remake of a previous Columbia hit of a dozen years earlier , the 1942 picture titled ¨My Sister Eileen¨ by Alexander Hall with Rosalind Russell , Brian Aherne, Janet Blair , George Tobias that was based on a Broadway play , which was based based on a series of autobiographical stories published in the New Yorker . The play was later turned into a Broadway musical known as ¨Wonderful Town¨ which has nothing to do with this version of the oiginal stories . It displays some very amusing and funny moments , with a lot of diversions . Main and support cast are pretty good , as the movie is dominated by Betty Garrett who's very nice as the woman who assumes her identity to maintain the attention of a playboy publisher and excels Janet Leigh who's always surprisingly fine when given the chance , no wonder this one leaves a warm glow behind and adding the great Jack Lemmon even better as playboy publisher Bob Baker . Along with other notorious actors as Bob Fosse who choreographies wonderfully the spectacular dance scenes , Kurt Kasznar , Dick York , Tommy Rall , Lucy Marlow , Richard Deacon, Barbara Brown , Horace McMahon among others .

This bright and funny motion picture was was well directed by Richard Quine , though it has a few flaws . Richard Quine was an expert on comedies , such as : "How to murder your wife" , "Oh Dad Poor Dad" , "Sex and single girl" , "Bell book and candle" , "Prisoner of Zenda" ,"Solid gold Cadillac" , "Strangers when we meet" , "Full of life", "My sister Eileen" , among others . Rating : 6.5/10 . Acceptable, decent musical comedy. The film will appeal to Jack Lemmon and Janet Leigh fans . Better than average , well worth watching .
