I feel like most of the actors with a couple exceptions were trying very hard not to show any emotions. Just deliver the lines. Like the SST boss and Ellie's dad. On the other hand Ellie's mom was over the top, probably because in the first half of the movie she was supposed to be a stereotype overprotective and overattentive mom. The bad buys were stereotypical bad guys - no depth.
I agree with the review that said there is about 60 minutes of story, maybe less. It was certainly predictable, especially the ending. You can even predict that Ellie is going to come out smelling like a rose despite breaking the rules and being reckless. There was no mystery since the bad guys are revealed early on.
