Ah, the music, the music....
15 August 2022
First off, you need to see this movie; there really isn't anything else out there like it. I was in my first year of high school in 1961, and I was living in a small town, so many of the things the kids in the movie did for "entertainment" certainly brought back memories. But the music is really what holds it all together. This music is mostly from black entertainers and musicians of this era; the movie itself barely shows any blacks, and when it does, they are in the background. So, I guess the point I am trying to make is that if the black music had not been created to begin with, this movie would never have been as appealing as it is, if it existed at all. I think we owe a great deal to the black entertainers we are so fortunate to have, and the wonderful music they continue to create to this very day. Please support the black artists.
