Farmhouse Fixer (2021– )
3/10
Not as good as last year

Warning: Spoilers
I really like Johnathan and his crew. He's been refreshingly down to earth compared to a lot of HGTV hosts who get full of themselves after a season or two. This year's first two episodes are a let down compared to season 1. Maybe he's spread a little too thin with the touring schedule, I don't know. But there's a lot of fluff in the show now that wasn't there before. If his team are going to both fix and properly update farmhouses, and also make a go of showing us the nuts and bolts of how they do it, then nothing wastes of time like dried arrangements, stamping window treatments and painting a chicken coop black, along with arranging beach sand and pallet wood as a mini boardwalk need to go. The real deal of how architecture has to be altered in a deep renovation hold real interest to folks who are looking to do their own homes over. The other thing is consistency. Replacing a main residential stairway because it "may not pass code" ALWAYS needs to be at least 3 feet wide with a continuous handrail to make it past a building inspection. I don't know how they ever let this detail slip by without at least mentioning it. Just saying...
