Kicks off where 'The Curse of Frankenstein' ended, but allowing Peter Cushing's Baron a way out to continue his experiments, now calling himself Dr Stein and working from a surgery helping the poor, supported by eager assistant Francis Matthews.
Full of that familiar Hammer atmosphere with angry Cushing giving another convincing turn as the crazed surgeon merrily stealing bodies and cutting up brains. This isn't quite as convincing as the first film with the creature rather more eloquent and sympathetic than before, but the last 15 minutes after the Baron is exposed for the villain he is, is moderately unpleasant and more typically the Hammer fun we have come to expect.
