A Plague Tale: Requiem (2022 Video Game)
9/10
A perfect follow up
20 October 2022
The sequel to 2019's A Plague Tale: Innocence. Manages to expand on almost everything the first game offered in terms of scale and quality. The story managed to keep me intrigued until the very end with the many twists and turns it offered and topped it with a very good conclusion. Gameplay has more depth to it now and is refreshed every couple of chapters via introducing the player to new mechanics/tools that add an additional depth of layer into the experience and offers more ways to deal with enemies as this game is mainly about stealth. The graphics and visuals are superb and beautiful despite being locked on 30fps on consoles, which is a major flaw and unfortunate. Voice acting and performance is incredibly well done and you can feel the emotions of characters as they kill an enemy or go through an unsettling experience. I also liked how areas are more open and larger in this game than its predecessor, no side quests on anything but a bit more exploration with the characters commenting and interacting with each-other which i didn't mind. The game's length is roughly double the first title, for me personally at least, as it took me 20 hours to beat the game. Overall, I highly recommend A Plague Tale: Requiem as one of the best highly directed narratives in recent memory.
