I never knew that about James Moriarty

Warning: Spoilers
I will never understand why Hollywood feels the need to replace well known characters with opposite genders or races or whatever.

Why not create new characters and empower them to be whatever you want them to be?

It takes away any thing you try to gain by adding strong female character or minorities when they are just repurposed versions of male or white characters. It feels as if it was done in a patronizing way.

Just create new characters.

The movie itself was decent. And there was no need to make Moriarty anyone other than who they already are. Also since this series is supposed to be about Enola Holmes the villain shouldn't have been Moriarty anyway. And should have featured less Sherlock Holmes.

And the mid credit scene did the same thing with Watson. We didn't need Watson in this. And we didn't need to change him either.

You could have a great new series with Enola and all new characters. Just have a strong story and good acting.
