Shady Grove (2022)
5/10
Definitely a good attempt at making a horror movie...
8 November 2022
Well, writers Nathan Dalton and Niki McElroy managed to put together an adequately enough entertaining storyline here for "Shady Grove". Sure, this wasn't a revolutionary entry into the horror genre, but it made for an enjoyable enough viewing experience.

I hadn't heard about "Shady Grove" prior to getting to sit down and watch it. However, I must say that the movie's cover/poster definitely had some appeal to it, and it made me stop up and take a glance at it. And thus, seeing it was a horror movie that I hadn't already seen, of course I opted to sit down and watch it.

Director Dale Resteghini managed to churn out a watchable horror movie, although it was somewhat on the generic side. It was the storyline that was somewhat generic, not the direction itself.

While the storyline did have shortcomings, then the movie was made all the more watchable by the acting performances by the cast ensemble. I wasn't familiar with the actors and actresses in the movie, but they definitely carried the movie quite well, especially actress and writer Niki McElroy put on a good performance.

There wasn't really anything overly scary or creepy to be experience in "Shady Grove", but still it was a watchable enough horror movie. If you think horror light edition, then you know what you are getting yourself into here.

And while I am not returning to watch "Shady Grove" a second time, then I was actually adequately entertained by watching it the first time around. Not a milestone in horror cinema by any means, but watchable for what it turned out to be.

My rating of "Shady Grove" lands on a five out of ten stars.
