Review of Sherwood

Sherwood (II) (2022– )
3/10
Too much

Good start. But then... Over-the-top hooded archer in Sherwood Forest fizzles into the mists. Too grim and sad for my taste, especially the second murder and related scenes. Too much stereotyping. Too many loose ends. Too many coincidences -- the plot could not sustain them all. Too many F-bombs. Too many Sherwood /Nottingham tropes.

But a great cast! An interesting location. A heartfelt human drama. An intriguing premise -- spy cops-- if rather poorly carried out, with no real closure.

Just too much of a muchness. If it had been only four episodes I would have found the whole thing less irritating. But six hours? It had better be worth it.

I will add that, oddly, I liked Andy's train speech at the wedding reception. A great actor. It was probably the only somewhat funny moment.
